Trompe L'oeil

A Trompe L’oeil is a French phrase that literarily means ‘Trick the Eye’ and is a technique used for painting on a wall, that gives the illusion of reality, rather than a picture, by imitating perspective and/or other paint effects.

They add interest to your home and can create the illusion of light and space, as shown here where a garden scene is painted at the solid end of an otherwise dark corridor.  The three-dimensional effect both lightens the area and creates the illusion of length. 

This effect can be used in many places inside the home, kitchen, hallways and bathrooms.  Equally at home in a conservatory or as a feature wall in a garden, a Trompe L’oeil can be classical, contemporary or humorous and always adds originality and individuality to your living space.
